Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone. I always love this three-day stretch. Whether I'm escaping to a beach town with friends, traveling, or staying put to get my living room painted, it always feels like a treat. And a hint of what's to come!
Though I have a long to-do list for housework, I'm still going to make time to grab a beer at a BBQ, laugh with my friends and maybe escape to the shores of a lake for a little R&R. This weekend, to me, always feels a little like a preview into the summer. And I have a feeling this one's going to be good.
I also like to take some time each year to think about why we have a Memorial Day. With so many members of my family serving in the armed forces, I don't think a day goes by where I don't recognize the debt I feel we all owe our troops.
I'd like to start posting the best and most arresting things I've found on the Internet to this blog each week. Fittingly, I can only think of one I'd like to have make the cut in the inaugural series post.
Paraswimmer and U.S. Army Sgt. Elizabeth Marks is a truly incredible woman. If you paid attention to the Invictus games, you may know her as the athlete who gave her gold medal back to Prince Harry. But her story is so much deeper and complex - she's a fighter, a swimmer, a daughter and a dreamer. She inspires me. This ESPNW piece is supremely worth your time, and the one read I'd like to pass along this weekend.
Have a great weekend.
